Bicycle counts
In many municipalities, bicycle flows are crucial for mobility planning, but often there is limited insight into actual bicycle movements. MultiSensors' Quanta sensor gives you access to detailed data such as the number of cyclists, their speed, direction, time of passing and weather conditions. In addition to bicycle traffic, you can also accurately map other road users, such as pedestrians and mixed traffic. Bicycle counts thus become a valuable tool for developing better policies. The Quanta is easy to move and can operate autonomously via a solar panel, making it deployable in both busy and quiet locations.
Our sensor provides valuable insights, ideal for cycling policy and testing new cycling infrastructure. Thanks to AVG-proof technology, with no use of cameras, cyclists' privacy remains fully protected.
Our technology
How do our bike counters work?
MultiSensors offers two versatile solutions for bicycle counts: the Quanta sensor and the Signum bicycle counter. Depending on the situation and the specific needs of the project, one of these advanced systems can be chosen.
The Quanta Sensor
The Quanta sensor combines LiDAR and Radar technology to provide accurate measurements of cyclists, pedestrians and mixed traffic. This system operates entirely without cameras, so data can be collected without invading privacy. With over 95% accuracy, the Quanta sensor records the number of passersby, their speed, direction and time of passing. With flexible installation options, including autonomous operation via solar panels, the Quanta can be easily deployed in a variety of locations and is suitable for both temporary and permanent bicycle counts.
The Signum Cycle Counter
The Signum bicycle counter is a robust and reliable radar designed specifically for measuring bicycle intensity and speed in strategic locations. While ideal for long-term measurements with over 90% reliability, the Signum also offers the flexibility to be used for shorter or temporary bicycle counts. With anonymous and aggregated data collection, the Signum is fully AVG-compliant, meaning user privacy is maintained. This makes the system a sustainable and flexible alternative to manual or temporary measurement methods.

Choose the right sensor for your project
Privacy-friendly bicycle racks
Our Quanta sensor works without cameras and does not record, making you fully compliant with AVG regulations. You collect detailed cycling data without infringing on cyclists' privacy. This makes bike counts not only effective, but also ethical.
Versatile installation options
The Quanta sensor is compact and flexible to install without major infrastructure modifications. This makes it suitable for both temporary and permanent bicycle racks.
Self-contained operation with solar energy
The Quanta sensor can operate autonomously with solar panels, allowing it to be used in remote locations. There are also multiple energy options, such as power via a mast or a battery.
Direct access to cycling data
Through the My Cycle Traffic platform, you have instant access to real-time data on the number of cyclists, their speed, and direction, allowing you to make informed decisions quickly. Bicycle counts can be easily analyzed, trends discovered, and reports created thanks to this platform, which is crucial for urban planning.
How do you integrate our bike counters into your infrastructure?
Our bicycle counters are easy to integrate into virtually any infrastructure, for both temporary and permanent setups. The Quanta sensor can be attached to existing light poles or traffic poles, eliminating the need for major modifications. We also offer custom solutions for companies that want to use mobile poles or other specific structures. Our sensors are weatherproof and low maintenance, and flexible power options such as solar panels, mast power or a battery allow the Quanta sensor to be deployed in a variety of locations, from busy urban areas to remote routes.
Additional Options:
Energy Supply:
- Solar panels and battery: Fully autonomous, suitable for permanent and temporary counting.
- Power supply from mast in combination with battery: Suitable for permanent and temporary setups.
- Battery: For short-term, temporary measurements of several weeks.
Cycling set display:
Pair the Quanta with a cyclist display to visibly promote cycling. The display shows live numbers of cyclists and has an awareness-raising effect on road users.
Understanding bicycle movements
The My Cycle Traffic platform provides instant access to accurate and reliable data on bicycle flows. This platform collects real-time data on the number of cyclists, their speed, direction and time of passing. These insights are ideal for mobility modeling and support the optimization of bicycle facilities and infrastructure.
My Cycle Traffic enables easy data analysis, trend discovery, and reporting for policy making. In addition, the data can be integrated with proprietary data platforms via API links, or exported in various formats for seamless integration into other systems.
